Now, more than 1000 + health care students of amoud college of health science and a community of 10,000, of 9600 Households in three areas around Borama ( Hayayaabe, DarayMacane, and lastly Sh. Osman) has got an ambulance service. and soon will pass to the University. and for the first time insha allah; Paramedic Trainings will be established by Amoud College of Health Sciences Insha Allah.
In More than 800 weeks of Amoud community health outreach, here are some of my experiance. we use to round different sectors in Borama. I have witnessed an old man with his family living in a hut who has developed several days ago an acute stroke, his wife, and daughter were sitting next to him. and he needed an ICU or emergency care. his BP was high and he was only on aspirin. we tried to take him to the refferral hospital but no one to come and no facility. During one of the days of Diarrhea outbreak. We have seen a mother who had diarrhea for 3 days and sorrounded by her children. no one else was in the home, she couldnt go out of them, and the husband was not there! she was in shock! unstable vitals. severely dehydrated. me and my classmate Najma had resuscitated her with an iv fluids one of us have been acting as stander for the fluids and we gave her quickly. again no one to call for help. we took a ticktok or Bajaj to the hospital admit her by our self and start her management. Like My stories any medical student who use to go specific area use to see these challenges and we use to report them.
Nov 2018, It was the birthday of my friend Michaela, a friend of somaliland people, and author, political analyzer and who comes for an observer for Somaliland Presidential Elections. She has supported Ultrasound Machine to be part of the reduction of somaliland maternal mortality rate. she donated medicines at edna adam hospital. she liked to help her birthday this time for Amoud Community Health outreach. She said any one who s coming please donate to this ambulance.
Here are some of the people who donated Sophia Sumburane, Simon Hengel, Anne Matuschek, Yasmina Hamid, Eva Werner, Melanie Arndt, Petra Balke- Bresser, Norbert Hiller, Nikola Richter, Markus Wilmsmann, Maha Yab , Heike Hellebrand, Christiane Frohmann, Adeline Annecke, Patrice Poutrus, Bettina Wuttig, Ulrike Herrmann, Anna Hasselkus, Susanne Muller, Daniel Haufler, Josef Muller, Marlene Mayer , Heike Pohl, Karen Margolis, and the Fine Future Foundations.
All these names are the people who had participated the donations of this ambulance. It wont only work for community outreachs, but as well it will be a national asset and it will be part of being preparedness for natural disasters.
“This ambulance will hopefully be the first step towards a paramedic service in the Awdal region. Hopefully it will soon reach the people all over Somaliland, from Burco to Borama, from North to South of this wonderful country and its citizens.
Somaliland, ha nolato!” by Michaela Maria Mueller
